Exotic Car Transport Is a Specialty, Not a Service

Shipping a Ferrari 488 or a Lamborghini Huracán isn't the same as shipping a Honda Civic. Exotic supercars have characteristics that make standard auto transport completely inappropriate: extremely low ground clearance (3-4 inches in many cases) that ramp-style carriers can't accommodate without damage, carbon fiber body panels and aerodynamic components that suffer from minor stone chips, six- and seven-figure values that need single-vehicle or limited-load enclosed transport, and specific operational quirks (electronic parking brakes, lift systems, transport modes) that only experienced exotic carriers know how to handle.

Heartland Auto Transport's exotic transport network is intentionally small and selective. We work only with carriers who specialize in exotic vehicle transport — typically those who serve major dealerships (Ferrari of Atlanta, Lamborghini Houston, McLaren Beverly Hills), high-end collectors, and exotic auctions like Barrett-Jackson, Mecum, and RM Sotheby's. These are not generalist auto haulers picking up a Ferrari as a side gig. They are the same carriers manufacturers use to deliver new exotics to dealerships.

How We Handle Exotic Transport Differently

Every exotic shipment with Heartland follows a specific protocol that standard transport doesn't include. We use hydraulic lift-gate enclosed trailers — never ramps. Lift gates raise the vehicle from ground level into the trailer with zero approach angle, eliminating any risk of front splitter or undercarriage damage. We use soft polyester straps over the wheels — never around the suspension, control arms, or chassis. Hard chains contacting suspension components is one of the most common causes of exotic transport damage. We coordinate vehicle access codes, lift system instructions, and transport mode procedures with the carrier in advance. Modern exotics like the Lamborghini Huracán or Ferrari SF90 have specific procedures for getting them onto a trailer that the driver needs to know before arriving. We provide single-vehicle or limited-load transport options. Standard enclosed trailers fit 4-8 vehicles. For seven-figure cars, we can arrange single-car dedicated transport — your vehicle is the only one in the trailer. We carry supplemental insurance options. Standard carrier cargo insurance ($250K-$500K) covers most exotics, but for hypercars and unique builds, we arrange additional coverage on request.

Exotic Car Transport Cost

Exotic transport pricing reflects the specialized nature of the service. Realistic costs from Alabama: Birmingham to Miami (Ferrari 488, multi-car enclosed) $1,200-$1,500, Mobile to Beverly Hills (Lamborghini Huracán, multi-car enclosed) $2,200-$2,700, Huntsville to Greenwich CT (McLaren 720S, multi-car enclosed) $1,800-$2,300, Montgomery to Naples FL (Pagani Huayra, single-car enclosed) $3,500-$4,500, Tuscaloosa to Pebble Beach CA (Bugatti Chiron, single-car enclosed) $5,500-$7,500. Single-car dedicated transport runs roughly 2-3x multi-car enclosed pricing. For event transport (Concours d'Elegance, Cars and Coffee, Monterey Car Week, Amelia Island), book months in advance — capacity is tight during peak event seasons.

Event and Concours Transport

Heartland regularly transports exotic and concours cars to and from major events: Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, Amelia Island Concours, Monterey Car Week, Cavallino Classic, Barrett-Jackson auctions, RM Sotheby's auctions, Mecum auctions, Goodwood Festival of Speed (international coordination), and Cars and Coffee gatherings. Event transport requires precise timing — your vehicle needs to arrive in pristine condition exactly when expected. We coordinate with concours staff, auction houses, and event organizers to ensure on-time arrival and proper handling at the venue.
