Car Shipping in the Home of the Superspeedway
The name Talladega means one thing to most of the country: the longest and fastest oval in stock car racing. People who live here know there is much more to the place. The city has a handsome courthouse square, historic Talladega College, and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind. Just up the road in Lincoln, Honda builds SUVs, minivans, and pickups at one of the largest plants in the state. Vehicles are part of the local identity, and moving them is what we do.
Heartland Auto Transport arranges door-to-door shipping for Talladega and the rest of the county. We are an FMCSA licensed broker. We assign a vetted carrier to each shipment, confirm that its cargo insurance is active, and coordinate pickup and delivery with you directly. We take no deposit. You pay when your vehicle is delivered.
The city is about fifteen miles south of I-20, reached by Highway 77 from Lincoln or Highway 21 from Oxford. That interstate links Birmingham and Atlanta and carries heavy carrier traffic, so trucks are never far away. A pickup in town adds a short detour for the driver, and a window of a few days makes it easy to fit your vehicle into a route.
Our customers include Honda employees and suppliers, students at Talladega College, families relocating to or from the area, and race fans and competitors who need a car, a camper, or a side-by-side delivered. Open transport covers most needs. Enclosed transport is the choice for show cars and race vehicles. Reach our Talladega line at (256) 602-2912.
Car Shipping Routes From Talladega
Shipments from Talladega begin with a short drive north to I-20. Eastbound, the interstate reaches Atlanta in under two hours, and carriers continue from there to the Carolinas and Florida. Westbound, Birmingham is less than an hour away, with connections to Nashville, Memphis, and Texas. US-231 and US-280 through Sylacauga and Childersburg offer a southern route toward Montgomery.
Given the area's racing heritage, it is no surprise that Charlotte and Daytona Beach are regular destinations alongside the major metro areas. The table shows typical open-carrier prices for a standard sedan, and the same prices apply for vehicles coming in.

Learn moreLocal Factors for Talladega Car Shipping
Race weeks, plant shifts, and country roads.
Race weeks in spring and fall
The superspeedway hosts major race weekends in April and October. Campgrounds open days ahead, I-20 slows to a crawl, and Highway 77 is packed. Unless your shipment is for the race itself, we recommend dates at least a week on either side.
Honda plant employees
The Honda plant in Lincoln employs thousands, and its engineers and managers transfer in from Ohio, Indiana, and Japan. We can deliver to Talladega, Lincoln, Pell City, or Oxford, wherever a new arrival decides to live.
Shift-change traffic
Twice a day, plant traffic fills Highway 77 and the roads around Lincoln. Carriers schedule pickups on the north end of the county for mid-morning or early afternoon to stay clear of it.
The square and historic districts
Downtown Talladega and the Silk Stocking District have narrow streets and mature trees. Car haulers load on the bypass or at a lot along Highway 21, a few minutes from the center of town.
Rural routes and forest roads
South and east of the city, roads climb toward the Talladega National Forest and Cheaha. Many are narrow or unpaved. For addresses out that way, the driver will choose a meeting point on a state highway.
Students and campus visitors
Talladega College and the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind bring students and families from across the country. A parent can book and pay, and a student or staff member can receive the vehicle on arrival.
Race Week at Talladega: Shipping a Car, Truck, or Camper
Twice a year, Talladega becomes one of the largest gatherings in the South. Fans arrive from every state, many of them staying a week in the infield or the surrounding campgrounds. If you are coming from far away, shipping a vehicle or a camper ahead can make the trip far more comfortable.
Timing is everything. Carriers are in high demand in the two weeks before each race, and roads near the track become difficult for a long truck once the campgrounds open. Plan for your vehicle or RV to arrive at least several days before the gates open. Book three to four weeks ahead to be sure of a carrier.
Decide where delivery will happen. A truck cannot unload inside a crowded campground, so arrange a spot nearby. Options include a storage lot, a friend's property, or a commercial lot in Lincoln, Talladega, or Oxford. Have someone available to receive the vehicle if you will still be traveling.
For campers and motorhomes, provide the type, length, height, and weight. A motorhome may be driven by a professional or carried on a specialized trailer, depending on its size. Secure everything inside, close the propane valves, and retract and lock the slides and awnings.
For show cars and tow vehicles, think about protection. An enclosed carrier keeps a custom paint job clean for the weekend. A tow vehicle or daily driver travels well on an open carrier.
Plan the return as carefully as the arrival. Traffic leaving the track is heavy for a full day after the race. Schedule pickup for Tuesday or later, and both you and the driver will have a much easier time.

Talladega Car Shipping Questions
How much does it cost to ship a car from Talladega, AL?
Open transport to destinations within about 500 miles, including Atlanta, Nashville, and Charlotte, usually costs $350 to $700. Routes of 500 to 1,500 miles, such as Florida, Indianapolis, Dallas, Chicago, and New York, run about $700 to $1,300. Cross-country shipments cost $1,100 to $1,800.
Can you deliver a vehicle to the superspeedway?
We deliver to the area, though not into the campgrounds or the infield, where a car hauler cannot maneuver. We will help you choose a nearby lot or property where the truck can unload safely before the crowds arrive.
How far ahead should I book for race week?
Three to four weeks. Carriers are busy and hotels are full, so drivers plan their routes early. For any other time of year, 7 to 14 days of notice is enough.
Do you ship campers and motorhomes?
Yes. We arrange RV transport for travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. Call with the type, length, height, and weight so we can quote it accurately.
Can you ship a side-by-side or four-wheeler?
Yes. ATVs and UTVs can travel on their own or along with a truck. Tell us the make, model, and any accessories such as a roof, windshield, or oversize tires.
Does it take longer to get a truck in Talladega?
Usually not by much. I-20 is fifteen miles away and carries steady traffic. A pickup window of a few days lets us add your vehicle to a truck that is already passing through.
Can you pick up at the Honda plant?
We can meet at or near the plant if your employer permits it. Many employees prefer a public lot in Lincoln close to the interstate, which is quicker for the driver.
Do I need to pay a deposit?
No. Nothing is due at booking. You pay on delivery, and the amount matches your quote.
